The Cinematic Orchestra - Live

The Cinematic Orchestra use two conductors: contemporary and classical. 

The stage is split in half:

  • On one side of the stage there’s a classical conductor directing an orchestra.
  • On the other side of the stage, the band leader/musical director conducts contemporary musicians who are versed in a variety of genres: jazz, drum and bass, hip hop, electronica, soul.

Musical director/band leader Jason Swinscoe holds it all together.

The Cinematic Orchestra always play in venues with brilliant acoustics and the timing of the band is James Brown tight. The Cinematic Orchestra also collaborate with brilliant singers and lyricists.

You can also check out their numerous live albums but it’s not the same as actually watching the classical conductor bopping along to a contemporary beat while waiting for the band leaders signal to bring  the strings in.  This is not Kanye West with Miri Ben Ari (love them), it’s some next level ‘ish.

The Cinematic Orchestra are one of my favorite artists to watch live next to Rage Against the Machine, Jay-Z, Jehst, Morgan Heritage and Jill Scott.
